Installation of the exterior part of the flue gas duct of Unit 6 in the Šoštanj TPP
On June 20th and 21st, 2013 the transport, lifting and erection of the second part of the flue gas duct for treated flue gas of the 600 MW Unit 6 were carried out.
In September last year the transport of the first part of the flue gas duct, which was built in the Cooling Tower interior, was carried out and now the transport of the exterior part of the flue gas duct for treated flue gas, which will connect the Cooling Tower and the Flue gas Desulphurization Plant, was realized. The transport, lifting and erection itself were extremely demanding for the reason of outsized dimensions: diameter 8 m, length 52 m, weight over 100 tons and lack of space on the site.
The flue gas duct will serve for discharge of the treated flue gas from the Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant into the Cooling Tower of Unit 6 and then into the environment. Solutions of this type have already been established in the world, but in Slovenia it is the first case.
