RUDIS will renovate the cogeneration unit in Toplarna Polaj

In the beginning of January 2020, RUDIS as the most favourable bidder at the public procurement signed the contract with the employer JP Komunala Trbovlje for renovation of cogeneration unit 2 in Toplarna Polaj. We are delighted that we signed the first contract in this year in our hometown.

The status of cogeneration unit in support scheme expires on 31 January. This is the reason why JP Komunala Trbovlje applied for renovation of the unit and extension to be included in support scheme has been granted by the Energy Agency.

Value of investment to renovate the cogeneration with gas motor with output power of 3.044 kW electrical energy and 2.915 kW thermal energy amounts to almost one million EUR. Renovation will be in implementation from January to September, followed by integration back into the system.

With renovation, lifespan of cogeneration plant will be extended for 10 years. In accordance with the tender, RUDIS will also perform maintenance and servicing of the plant in aforementioned time period.

RUDIS is currently also re-processing the central control system (CCS) for thermal energy storage tanks in Toplarna Polaj, so that even bigger utilization of thermal energy will be possible. When there is no consumption of the network, thermal energy will be stored in storage tanks and in the morning, after all radiators are turned on, Toplarna Polaj will release the stored thermal energy into the system; up to this point, this energy had to be generated with boilers.

The aforementioned will significantly contribute to the operating economics of Toplarna Polaj.
