Rudis participated in the 24th cycling ascent to Kum
On Sunday, September 14<sup>th</sup>, 2014, the traditional, already 24th ascent to Kum, the highest mountain in Zasavje, took place. It is the most difficult ascent in terms of the average slope in Slovenia.
Kum is the highest peak of the Zasavje mountains, so the local residents like to call it Triglav of Zasavje. Due to the altitude, rugged terrain crisscrossed with many such or different roads, Kum represents the culmination of mountain bike offer of the Zasavje mountains. At the top of Kum there is a viewing platform, and the view extends from Triglav over the Kamnik-Savinja Alps to the eastern and southern Slovenia. The ascent to Kum from Trbovlje is probably the most difficult road cycling ascent in Slovenia, as with regard to the slope it is harder than the ascent to Mangart as well as to Vršič.
There are 9 km of the cycling race part of the track and the ascent, and the last two kilometres are not paved. The railway station in Trbovlje, which is the starting point of the cycling ascent, is located at an altitude of 216m and Kum is 1,220m above sea level. Due to the bad weather this year's ascent to Kum was attended only by 47 riders, including four representatives of Rudis, who represented the team with the highest number of cyclers.
